Rescuing India from Distorted History
A brief introduction of our speaker, an extremely multi-faceted personality. On the left side - a graduate from St. Stephens, Doctorate from Cambridge and a Professor at JNU. And on the right side – author, columnist and now one of the most respected analyst on media. The fact that inspite of the ‘overhang’ of the pandemic and a heavy monsoon, we have a “House Full” in a hall of 900+ people, tells me that he needs no further introduction.
George Santayana, more than a century ago, said "Those who fail to learn from history are condemned to repeat it". But we can’t also forget that the same history, is always written by the Victor because the Winner takes all. However, for a country like India, which is diverse in every respect, has been arguably proven as one of the first known civilisations, has unfortunately had over 100 years of foreign invaders – it is but natural that many parts of the history were written by the ‘Victors’. As evidence surfaces that there have been many distortions in the history that is ‘taught’ to us today, it is high time we get together to rescue our next generation from that effect. Who better than Anand ji to enlighten on this.
