Colonisation & Constitution
Prabodhan Manch Parle
Welcome to Prabodhan Manch Parle’s tenth online engagement. Honestly, while we stayed away for some time, coming back and connecting with you in quick succession is thoroughly enjoyable – so that’s what we will endeavour to keep doing.
As a citizen of India, the sovereign, democratic republic that also became socialist and secular mid-way, the fundamental document that governs our life is the Constitution of the country. But, other than one small chapter in the Civics book when we were kids and the fact that Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar was the Chairman of its drafting committee, not much was known to most of us, until the world wide web and its numerous trivia sources came into limelight. However, what is extremely important for a document like the Constitution – is understanding the history, timeline, lineage and ethos its creation.
Irrespective of however daunting a topic may look, we at Prabodhan Manch, have been very fortunate to have extremely knowledgeable and articulate speakers –and today is no exception.
Speaker's Introduction
I am very pleased to welcome and introduce our speaker for the day, Shri J Sai Deepak. Sai Deepak ji – welcome and welcome back to Prabodhan Manch – in a different format. A casual look at the blue tick Twitter handle that show more than 1.5 lac followers, tells you that our speaker needs no further introduction. One of India’s brightest and young Supreme Court Advocates, alum of the IIT Kharagpur Law School, an ardent votary of the Indic school of thought and the Reclaim Temples from government movements, Sai Deepakji is today a very well known face.
